Abstract Aikido is a form of martial art that differs from other martial arts. It appeared in Japan and over time it developed, following its own path. In the theoretical part of the work, the rules, basic assumptions, practices and procedures followed in Aikido are described bibliographically. Emphasis is placed on teaching and learning with particular reference to psychopedagogical learning outcomes. At the same time, extensive reference is made to the theoretical approaches in the field of martial arts, while the research data and scientific findings from the practical application of Aikido in psychology and in the processes of education, learning and development are mentioned. The purpose of the work is to investigate whether the systematic exercise of Aikido can affect the person and his life; to determine the type of effect and to record the results of practicing Aikido, on a physical, spiritual or even social level. The research process follows the autoethnographic methodology based on the case study of the researcher himself from attending Aikido lessons. The training period lasted three months with the classes being held twice a week in a dojo in the prefecture of Heraklion. The research belongs to the field of qualitative methodology using autoethnography as a key strategic approach to research questions and drawing conclusions. The research data was based on the experiences of the researcher during his participation in the courses. The material collected is recorded in a diary kept by the researcher himself, and from its collection and processing, his conclusions will emerge. The material will be enriched by the use of art helping to triangulate the data and reveal the depth of the human experience. The collection of research data took place in the spring semester of 2023.
