Abstract Bullying is an act of violence, which even though was particularly widespread abroad; intense incidents have been noted in Greece only the past few years, which in some cases resulted the death of the victims. Therefore, it can be understood how dangerous and severe this act might be. However, several educational institutions tend not to recognize the necessity of dealing with this act. In several cases the education community does not have the necessary knowledge to suppress this act, fact which leads to its deterioration. The main purpose of this study is to attempt the implementation of an alternative counseling intervention program through the use of dramatic activities, aiming the investigation -through proper collection, analysis and interpretation of research data- the capability of awareness, prevention and reduction of school bullying in Greek schools. The basic research question is whether the implementation of such a program enhances the recognition, understanding and dealing with this phenomenon. The survey was carried out in a fifth grade classroom in a school in Crete, which consisted of 12 students (6 boys and 6 girls). This is a survey based on qualitative methodology of research-action using ethnographic observation, interviews, videotaped meetings and drawing tasks. In order to carry out the research, took place: (1) the phase of observation with the intention to be introduced better in the classroom climate, (2) the interviews and drawing tasks phase with children aiming to see the knowledge and stereotypes of children for bullying, (3) the implementation phase of the alternative counseling intervention program through the use of dramatic activities (meetings lasting one-hour each, with the children) and (4) the phase where were equivalent interviews and drawing work with children took place, aimed to see if the intervention helped children understand school bullying and reduce the stereotypes. The analysis of the research data implemented that the psycho-pedagogical interventions functioned reinforcing to recognize, understand and deal with the phenomenon of bullying. Specifically, the children seem to gain a more complete picture of the phenomenon (demonstration forms, management strategies, causes, consequences, gender and age characteristics, feelings, moral dimensions, etc.). At the same time students, through the daily contact the phenomenon of school bullying, sensitized and mobilized more. Also, dramatic activities and dramatizations which included, urged children to cooperate and communicate with each other, which strengthened the friendly ties. These results, although encouraging, could not be generalized. It’s required further research of prevention and intervention capabilities of the phenomenon of bullying in schools.
