Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on the development of phonological awareness and vocabulary in preschool children (3-5 years). Experimental design was used to investigate the purpose and control of research hypotheses. The sample was selected by convenient sampling technique, since the sections to be surveyed were from the researcher's working environment. The sample of the study was 59 children aged 3.5- 5 years of which 26 were boys and 33 girls. They were studying at a Private School in Heraklion Prefecture for the academic year 2018-2019. The research involved 2 sections of the Pediatrician and 2 sections of the Preschool. The sections were divided into I section of Child and I section of Preschool for the experimental group and respectively the other section of Child and Preschool constituted the control group. For data collection, weighted tests were administered to children as pre-test and post test. In the study, children were assessed for rhythm and syllable in terms of phonological awareness. In addition to phonological awareness, children were • assessed in general and specific vocabulary. The general vocabulary was assessed using a weighted criterion and the specific vocabulary was evaluated by a criterion designed by the researcher for research needs. The intervention was made by the use of new technologies by children. Phonological awareness and vocabulary following the pre-test were followed by computer intervention, and the post-test was performed by re-administering the same tests. The results showed for phonological administration that the program did not improve children's performance. As far as vocabulary is concerned, intervention through new technologies has significantly improved the performance of children.
