Abstract The aim of this study was to examine the influence of morphological awareness on the acquisition of orthographic skill. This study was a systematic review and meta-analysis. The systematic review included N=24 studies looking at this issue in students from all primary school classes. Meta-analysis included N=5 studies, where out of 3 of these studies were used 2 times with different measurements. Meta-analysis was done based on the correlated data of morphological awareness and spelling skill of each study. The random effects model was used as heterogeneity I2 was important. The results of the study showed that the impact of both inflectional and derivational morphology on the achievement of orthographic skill is approximately the same. The results cannot be generalized by the small number of sample studies.
