Abstract |
With the development of information and communication technologies, the modern demands of society, education and the labor market, there is a need for the design of innovative learning environments and modern educational processes. It is necessary for the manager to always evaluate the upgrading of his/her role and this through self-evaluation, training, information on new developments in the field of sciences, specialization and training. Given that the school environment in which they are professionally active is the microcosm, the greenhouse in which the citizens of tomorrow develop with healthy and constructive standards, there is a need to pursue deeper training in the basic aspects of educational administration and leadership and the deepening of sector of the development of educational units. The training of principals is a pivotal point for educational issues and the creation of an effective learning environment. Updating them, both in modern scientific, technological and social developments, as well as in developments in the sciences of education is imperative. Improving the quality of education is closely linked to the continuous training and professional development of principals. Every effort, which aims to upgrade the education provided, cannot be carried out without their empowerment. With this specific research study, an attempt was made to investigate the opinions of principals regarding the factors that influence school effectiveness as well as its relationship with the training of principals in matters of educational administration and leadership. For this purpose, qualitative research was carried out using a semi-structured interview, in a sample of 15 principals, who serve in elementary schools of the Prefecture of Chania.
