Abstract Despite the fact that Inclusive Education that aims at the development of social interaction between Typically Developed children (TD) and children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is being promoted more and more, there is increasing concern that many of the children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) that study in a conventional school environment feel socially isolated (Tavares, 2011). The existence of negative attitude towards children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and their limited social relationships have been the subject of study for many researchers. Undoubtedly, the attitude, the intentions and the behaviour of typically developing children towards their peers with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is tremendously important for their harmonious coexistence in the school environment and the successful implementation of Inclusive Education. The aim of this study is to research the attitude of Typically Developed 3rd grade primary school pupils towards their peers with SEN and to assess if a Pilot Intervention Program that utilizes ICTS and includes a combination of information sessions and simulation activities can sensitize the participants and have a positive impact on their behaviour towards students with SEN and their inclusion in conventional school environments. The participants are 40 typically developing pupils from two (2) 3rd grade classes of a Primary school in the municipality of Rethemnos and who were co-educated during school year 2020-2021 in the same school environment as pupils with SEN (who bear an official diagnosis). The sample was divided in 2 groups, the experimental group (1 group of 20 pupils) and the control group (1 group of 20 pupils) and the educational program was applied only on the experiment group. For the data gathering process the scale Chedoke-McMaster Attitudes Toward Children with Handicaps Scale (CATCH) was used. The questionnaire was answered twice by each pupil, first a week before the implementation of the Pilot Program and secondly a week after the Program. Post data gathering, the data was recorded and statistically analyzed in order to come up with the results. Analyses of the results showed that the Pilot Intervention Program that utilizes ICTS managed to change the behavioral dimension of TD students towards their peers with SEN. Furthermore, the acquaintance with children with SEN and the presence of a disabled person in the family environment seemed to influence participant’s attitudes, while gender is not a factor that influences their attitudes statistically significantly.
