Abstract The primary goal of this study is the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational material, concerning the Four New Martyrs - George, Angelis, Manolis, and Nikolaos - from Melampes, and their martyrdom in Rethymno on October 28th, 1824. The educational material of this study was created to help every adult become acquainted with the life and martyrdom of these Four New Martyrs, based on written sources of the era and subsequent ones, as well as oral traditions, which we derived both from their hometown, Melampes, and from the place of their martyrdom, Rethymno, as well as from recent findings in the context of historical research I conducted both inside and outside the island of Crete. Moreover, it aims to highlight the struggles of Saints Angelis, Manolis, Georgios, and Nikolaos for freedom, their sacrifices, and their martyrdom for their Christian faith. Based on international and Greek literature, general elements about Distance Learning, design issues, and the concept of history were presented. Subsequently, the research methodology was examined. After analyzing the findings in detail and answering the research questions by the three evaluators, we proceeded to highlight the conclusions. The evaluation indicated that the educational material created within this work complied with the principles and methodology of Distance Learning and the principles of Multimedia Learning. Additionally, through the evaluation, all the positive aspects of the design of the educational material were identified, as well as the points which, according to the evaluators, could be improved.
