Abstract |
In the present thesis the use of the fairy tale in kindergarten is being explored as a pedagogical means of teaching, which contributes to the spiritual, moral, mental and artistic formation of a child’s internal world. More specifically, in the first part of the thesis, is conducted, through a literature review, a theoretical approach of the subject where the definition of Fairy Tale is given, the methods regarding the studying of its origin are reported as well as the methods of its analysis. Furthermore, are pointed out the initial versions of fairy tales as well as their adaptations. Subsequently the characteristics of fairy tales are listed. The theoretical part of this thesis is completed by the synoptic presentation of fairy tale’s place in education through the passage of time whereas a special report is done regarding the role of the fairy tale in preschool education through the Greek curriculums. At the second part of t this thesis is presented the research that was conducted regarding the effect that classic and modern fairy tale have in modern kindergarten. Even though students seem to grow up in a rational world they have responded positively to their teacher’s calling for readings and narrations of classic fairy tales, which is a fact that proves that they can still get mesmerized by them. Admittedly the use of fairy tales was productive enough since the kindergarten students got dynamically involved in social and learning interactions. Therefore, the relevant pedagogical activities are described that took place during the school year by the stimulus of fairy tales. Moreover are suggested ways that fairy tales can be approached in kindergarten and at the same time are mentioned the learning goals that are consistent with the current Greek curriculum.
