Abstract

The enormous importance of children’s literature and its presence in Primary School has given birth to numerous and important studies that pinpoint (highlight) the upgrade of children’s literature as a vital (an essential) subject. Particularly, the presence of two classical authors such as Antoine Saint-Exupéry and Michael Ende is considered crucial in school manuals, since heroes such as the Little Prince and Jim Knopf can accompany students in the majority of their school subjects. The heroes of the novels challenge students to seek for different story endings, they ask for their help in solving math’s problems, they learn altogether the geography of their country, Greece, as well as, they motivate them to express their thoughts and feelings. Their imagination develops and the participation of weaker students is being enhanced. On the other hand, students introduce the heroes to their classmates through art and the use of computer science. Lastly, students get familiar with the image of a boy of colour, so in this way they gradually eradicate any racist beliefs they may have.
