Abstract Inequality as a concept has always been of concern to the international community while at the same time contributing to the shaping of world history. The dimensions that can be taken vary, resulting in the corresponding results each time. The evolution of technology and the emergence of new technological means brought with them a new form of inequality that associated with access to the Internet and technological media. This inequality was defined as the Digital Divide, took global dimensions and disrupted the balance at the intra-social level as well. Therefore, one could argue that the technology revolution did not produce the results it should have produced, since it managed to exclude very large parts of the world's population from its means and capabilities. This exclusion not only entails a lack of access to information but also takes on economic, social and even political dimensions, making life difficult for non-integrated digital individuals. In the context of the Digital Divide, technology seems to favour the already favoured, while it puts even more aside countries, societies and individuals on the sidelines. It is clear here that the dimensions of this phenomenon also require that appropriate solutions be found. And while the science industry has made remarkable efforts to document it, analyse it and propose ways to address it, the Digital Divide has not ceased to exist as a global, multidimensional and damaging issue. Thus, the present paper aims to shed light on every dimension of the phenomenon and through the presentation of its main characteristics at each level, to propose ways in which modern society can eliminate digital exclusion, which will significantly improve the quality of life of huge population groups.
