Abstract The present thesis explores and presents journalists' fundamental perceptions regarding “objectivity” as a crucial factor in their professional practices. The research has a qualitative orientation and focuses on the following four basic questions: a) how do journalists comprehend their role in covering political issues?, b) to what extent the work of a political journalist can be influenced by factors that determine his personal identity?, c) in what ways the phenomenon of falsification of political news is reflected in the professional experience of the journalist?, and (d) how do journalists understand the interrelation of their industry and the public opinion? In order to investigate these very issues an electronic questionnaire was randomly and anonymously distributed to a number of professional journalists in order to be filled in. The collected answers were eventually analyzed and discussed. Finally, the conclusions drawn from the material provided read as follows: a) Journalists attach great importance to the proper and constructive provision of information, the notion of objectivity in covering political issues, while seem to be ideologically opposed to techniques that can indirectly serve interests. b) Journalists can really be influenced by factors that determine themselves and the place they work in, with their professional environment and ideological identity playing the most important role in it. Individual elements, status, and other external factors do not have such a corresponding effect on them. c) Confirmation of the phenomenon of falsification of political issues by journalists, with reference to cases of motivation of professionals by thirds in the journalistic and political areas. Cases of violation of the ethical code of journalism in order to promote the journalist's relationship with society, employers and the world of politics were also reported. d) Journalists recognize the public theory that makes their field directly linked to politics, as well as the negative bias coming from the Public Opinion.
