Abstract The porphyrins are compounds of great importance because in addition to their use in nature that is very well known, the technological application ranging from medicine to materials science. Recently, interest has been attributed to porphyrins to mimic natural photosynthesis. Still, the synthesis of porphyrins and the investigation of electro-and physical - chemical properties have attracted particular interest. The extensive conjugated p system of the porphyrins are suitable for application as electron donors in photoinduced electron transfer processes. Therefore, the porphyrins and their derivatives have been widely used as photosensitizers because of their chemical stability and absorption in the visible region. So, the porphyrin can act as a solar center when joined with an electron acceptor. In this work, we tried to synthesize binary porphyrins. The identification was done by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), ultraviolet – visible spectrometry (UV-Vis) and mass spectrometry (MS, MALDI). Synthetic approaches followed failed.
