Abstract This thesis focuses on the concept of the social contract in Kant's work, utilizing tools from game theory. Initially, the basic principles of social contract theory are presented, while an introduction to game theory and its usefulness is also provided. The following chapters examine Kant's positions on the social contract, focusing on the interdependence of morality and politics, the social contract as an idea of Reason, and the position of the three a priori principles of freedom, autonomy, and equality in Kant's analysis of the social contract. Subsequently, the thesis explores the normative dimension of game theory, when the players act in a Kantian way with an emphasis on simple Kantian equilibrium. Additionally, the naturalistic dimension of the emergence of the social contract is examined with evolutionary game theory, the Prisoner's Dilemma, the Stag Hunt game, the Hay Stack model, and the factors that favor cooperation according to Brian Skyrms. The final chapter of the thesis briefly raises some open questions related to Kant's positions in general on antinomies, the existence of a naturalistic fallacy, and the possibility of a social contract antinomy.
