Abstract |
The present study dealt with the issue of health care with a focus on society and the
citizen himself, while proposals and ethical implications were made in relation to the
issue. In more detail, the work was completed through four chapters where the subject
under study was approached in detail, initially referring to the evolution of health care
with a focus on society and the citizen. Information was recorded on the health care
pyramid, the Alma-Ata declaration, 21st century family-centred health care and the
Astana declaration.
As it turned out, health systems are not only technical, biomedical organizations but also
socio-political institutions with the goals of economic protection, fair distribution of
services and resources and meaningful inclusion of citizens in the system, and therefore
patients must be respected as individuals and as collectives within the health care system.
The methodology adopted by this research is that of a systematic literature review.
Studies were searched in digital databases using appropriate and relevant keywords as
terms. In order to complete the objectives of the research, a search for scientific articles
and reviews related to the topic was first completed. More specifically, a systematic
literature review was conducted in the electronic databases PubMed and Google Scholar.
The keywords used to find the appropriate bibliography in both Greek and English were:
healthcare, citizens' health, social health, society and health benefits, with all possible
combinations. Regarding the sample, a total of 23 articles were selected through an
analytical process for the study of the thesis.
It concluded that technology can provide more personalized, social and ethical health
care and empower people to control their health information. The processes involved in
the development and use of evidence must be transparent to all stakeholders. It is
important to have a commitment to shared principles and values in health for all. Finally, the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare applications can augment human decisionmaking
by automating and speeding up tasks that previously required a lot of labor effort.
