Abstract In modern times, the position of women in educational administration has evolved significantly, but there are still many obstacles they face on their way to leadership positions. After repeated struggles to assert their human rights, most importantly the right to vote and the right to education, it appears that some remnants of the past still exist. In Primary Education, women are often considered good to be teachers, but not as good to occupy administrative positions. On the other hand, men seem to be preferred in the process of assuming responsibilities and occupying high-ranking hierarchical positions, thus strengthening their prestige. This differentiation signals a qualitative inequality between the two sexes. This work aims to investigate the position of women in administrative tasks and focuses its interest on the educational sector. Furthermore, it focuses on the difficulties and inhibiting factors presented in assuming a high-level hierarchical position, but also explores broader deterrents from performing leadership tasks based on social norms and stereotypical perceptions of gender discrimination. The method used in our research is the qualitative analysis of the research data and to achieve this a sample of ten women in administrative training tasks was requested. According to the data collected from the research it became known that stereotypes and prejudices greatly influence public opinion. Women through their environment, family and professional, but also from the wider society are confronted with theories and opinions that want their gender to be weak and devoted to the family, without great aspirations for professional advancement and career pursuit. All the above views can be changed if there is proper encouragement and psychological support to fulfill the wishes of women teachers. The means and practical methods that can be used for the professional advancement of women would also be ways of dealing with and eliminating gender discrimination.
