Abstract |
In the context of this thesis, educational material, designed upon the principles of the methodology of distance learning, was developed, implemented and evaluated, on the following subject matter: "The pedagogical use of the art of photography in the classroom". This material is addressed to teachers of primary education who are currently employed in public schools and its main goal is to present to them a different way of teaching certain traditional school subjects and concepts (such as the function of the human eye, geometry, description of a building, etc.) This educational material was evaluated by thirty primary education teachers who had initially attended the training program and then came into contact with the specific material. Then , this material was evaluated by the teachers of the sample in terms of its design, the individual learning processes it offers, and the learning outcomes achieved through it. The evaluation process was carried out through a questionnaire survey using mainly closed ended questions but open ended ones, as well. Data analysis was made with the use of the SPSS quantitative analysis program and the content analysis program Atlas 8. The results of the survey show that the majority of the trainees, that is the thirty primary education teachers, evaluated the educational material positively in all three research questions that were asked from the beginning. Some of the features of the educational material that were evaluated were its structure, organization, flexibility, clarity, friendliness, aesthetic appearance, ease of implementation and simplicity. Moreover, a real willingness on the teachers’ part to apply the new knowledge in the classroom, either as it is or by enriching it with their own ideas was evident.
