Abstract In this work, we report the synthesis, full characterisation and magnetic properties of heterometallic {CrIIIxMy} complexes (M: NiII , CoII , MnII , FeII , ZnII , La III , x, y= integers), upon employment of the amino acid ligands aibH (2-amino-isobutyric acid), glycine and valine, while 2-OH-naphthaldehyde was also employed in many cases. We were able to isolate and characterise the following ten heterometallic chromium complexes: [CrΙΙΙ2NiΙΙ4Na(aib)12](NO3)3(1), [CrΙΙΙ2NiΙΙ4K(aib)12](NO3)3(2), [CrΙΙΙ2NiΙΙ4Rb(aib)12](NO3)3(3), [CrΙΙΙ2NiΙΙ(L1)4(MeOH)4] (4), [CrΙΙΙ2CoΙΙ(L1)4(MeOH)4] (5), [CrΙΙΙ2MnΙΙ(L1)4(MeOH)4] (6), [CrΙΙΙ2FeΙΙ(L1)4(MeOH)4] (7), [CrΙΙΙ2ZnΙΙ(L1)4(MeOH)4] (8), [CrΙΙΙ2NiΙΙ(L2)4(valH)2] (9) and CrΙΙΙ4LaIΙΙ2(L2)6(O2CPh)6] (10). All complexes were characterised by Single-Crystal X-ray Crystallography, FT – IR Spectroscopy, PXRD measurements, EDS Spectroscopy and finally DC magnetic susceptibility and magnetisation measurements (complexes 1 and 4-8) in the temperature range of 2 – 300 K and field range 0.1 – 5 T. Magnetic susceptibility measurements on complex 1 showed dominant ferromagnetic interactions, while for complexes 4-8 showed dominant antiferromagnetic interactions between the metallic centers
