Abstract This study aims to search and present the preschool teachers’ beliefs concerning the introduction of the English language in the Greek state preschool. The importance of the present paper lies on the fact that the introduction of English as a foreign language at preschool is implied for the first time throughout the whole country and it is an untouched field for the Greek educational context to discover. The study collected the beliefs of state preschool teachers who were on duty during the school year 2020-2021, just a year before the overall implementation of this introduction to all preschools. The sample of the research is consisted of 20 preschool teachers – 10 took part in the introduction of English on a pilot basis for the school year 2020-2021 and 10 have no experience upon this subject at all – and the interview was chosen as the most appropriate research instrument. Therefore, it is about a qualitative research method that analyses a topic in depth. The data revealed the preschool teachers’ thoughts, concerns and attitudes towards this change, the benefits for preschoolers and the importance of the cooperation with the teacher of English as a foreign language. This cooperation was mentioned by every preschool teacher as the key factor that will affect the success of the introduction of English to preschoolers.
