Abstract |
Plants, being sessile organisms, must dynamically adjust to environmental stress
through various processes, including protein stability regulation via autophagy and the
ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS). This study investigates the role of the kinesin-like protein
KIN7.4 in Arabidopsis thaliana, particularly its involvement in salt stress. Our findings reveal
that KIN7.4 knock-out mutants exhibit significant sensitivity to salt stress, unlike the closely
related KIN7.2, highlighting a unique function for KIN7.4. We confirmed that KIN7.4 interacts
with the Anaphase-Promoting Complex/Cyclosome (APC/C) inhibitor UVI4, and explored the
possibility of KIN7.4 participating in endoreduplication. Furthermore, our data suggest that
KIN7.4's interaction with UVI4 occurs along unidentified filamentous structures in the
cytoplasm, possibly linking kinesin activity to cytoskeletal dynamics during stress adaptation.
This study aims to enhance our understanding of the molecular pathways involving motor
family proteins in plant stress responses, establishing a foundation for future research.
