Abstract In the present paper we investigated the values of virility and regionalism in the communities of OFI via mixed methods. We distribute our questionnaires (quantitative method) by the fascicles‟ method, while in the frames of qualitative method became focused interviews and analysis of content. We more concretely investigated the correlations between the masculinity of the Cretan identity with the masculinity of OFI‟s fans. Attitudes and perceptions that prevail mainly in mountainous Crete as they have been elected in anthropologic studies (Herzfeld, 1985), appear to infiltrate in the communities of OFI‟s fans. Such perceptions are the virility, the independence, the 4 defense of price, the all Cretan value models are incorporated and are condensed in one sovereign central masculinity with his multiple expressions. Beginning from the question of purely regionalism, and beginning from the results of quantitative research, the partisans of OFI gave answers of intense local tinge. Exemplarily their majority agreed with the proposals that “it is big responsibility for being Cretan” and that “OFI is the team of Crete.” In the qualitative research, we found a lot of cultural products of fans (statements, songs, serenades, banners, posters, figurative creations in the internet) of OFI to relate themselves with Crete or, in order that is entered the central banner of contact, “they glorify” (born to raise Crete) For the fans of OFI the attributes of Cretan and “Omilitis” (an expression for OFI fans) are identified. Passing in most complicated as was elected question of virility, the conclusions the quantitative and qualitative research converge in that the fans of OFI repeat the particular model. For example, many of their songs have sexist content, while their majority has participated in violent episodes. It was observed a distance between opinion and action. Concretely, while fans of OFI in their overwhelming majority consider “that the woman should have equivalent place with the man”, however in their practices in the ground of course and degrades the rival fans in the place of women that should be in a hurry symbolically. The ground appears to provide codes and in legalization of sexism, that in public ball they are oppressed as politically incorrect. Our discoveries give us the spark for a more general placement in the question of hooliganism and in our country. Whoever repressive type meters appears that they do not touch upon the root of phenomenon, that in a deeper level has to make with the sovereign social norms of virility and often her violent realizations. The process of constitution of male identities penetrates all other divisions and inequalities of social relations, so the social order, the race or the nationality play decisive role in the constitution of one particular masculinity. (Gkolfinopoylos, 2007) It should become a complete investigation of the relation between violence and masculinity that penetrates all the social fields, so the study of violence in the grounds is not broken away from his social context. We hope this paper contributed to this direction.
