Abstract During the last decade, the changes in Tertiary Education teaching have been rapid; changes concerning the way of education with the development of technology, the diversity of the student body, mobility, the digitalization of education, the changes that the recent pandemic caused(EU Commission Directorate, 2021). These changes impose a different way of approaching and disseminating knowledge by the teaching faculty, especially for students who are disadvantaged in this highly technological era and increasingly digitalized information (Cutri et al., 2020). Nowadays, there is an intense debate about revising the ways of learning in Higher Education so that they respond to the insecurity, uncertainty and ever-accelerating change of the times (Lotz-Sisitka et al., 2015; Orfanidou et al., 2021) for an inclusive and sustainable education (EU Commission Directorate, 2021). The purpose of this postgraduate paper is to map the teaching practices of Tertiary Education faculty and detect their teaching needs specifically on eight key axes for the improvement of teaching and consequently for their development. The investigation was carried out with qualitative approach, with semi-structured interviews with sixteen members of the teaching faculty from a research- intensive university in Greece on the following axes: student-centered learning, inclusive learning, digital readiness, digital equality, teaching and research nexus, students as equal partners, formative assessment and reorganization of courses. The analysis showed the need for faculty training on student-centered and inclusive teaching practices, formative assessment, digital tools and the connection between research and teaching. An additional challenge for the academics themselves, as shown by the data, was the need to revise their personal teaching theory (Macphail, 2019).
