Abstract

The indigenous-local knowledge is increasingly recognized by international agencies and organizatiions as a factor in the development of local communities. In addition, it can affect sustainable development issues, while the contemporary digital media enable promotion and utilization of local knowledge. The knowledge of all these years is still today, among the inhabitants of Crete and may be a key factor in sustainable development. The present paper is called upon to explore and present the link between indigenous-local knowledge, sustainable development and digital libraries in the region of Crete. The Participatory Video is used as a methodological tool for the prominence of indigenous-local knowledge, the effect it may have on sustainable development in the region of Crete, as well as a digital archive for sharing and preserve the local knowledge for future generations.
