Abstract The purpose of this thesis is to study surface plasmon polaritons in two dimensional materials(here we examine the case of graphene) and meta-materials and examine their behaviour when we in- troduce active dielectric systems for amplification[22][21][29]. We will see some preliminaries of graphene and the plasmon behaviour in a single and a double layer graphene, as long as the behaviour in a twisted bi-layer graphene (tBLG) plasmon, where it obtains unconventional super- conducting properties. Finally we do a comparison about the untwisted bi-layer graphene with the tBLG and with a conventional 2D superconductor.
