Abstract

This thesis aims to investigate the occupational stress and job insecurity of teachers, focusing on the kindergarten teachers of the Municipality of Lavreotiki. The collection of data was implemented through 13 interviews with kindergarten teachers working in public kindergartens in the municipality of Lavreotiki. First, the relevant literature was reviewed to understand the theoretical background of stress, burnout, insecurity and precariousness at work. Then, field research was conducted using semistructured interviews with the kindergarten teachers in order to collect empirical data. The findings of the survey show that kindergarten teachers face a significant degree of job stress and insecurity, which is influenced by factors such as relationships with parents and colleagues, support from management, the institutional framework for substitutes and the logistical infrastructure of schools. Lack of clarity in roles and expectations, as well as low financial rewards, are also important sources of stress. In addition, burnout often occurs as a result of the above factors, negatively affecting teacher performance and well-being. The work concludes on the need to improve the working conditions of kindergarten teachers by strengthening management support, improving labor relations and providing appropriate resources and infrastructure. It also proposes the implementation of policies that will enhance professional development and reduce the job insecurity of teachers.
