Abstract |
The methodology of Distance Education nowadays provides important applications in almost all forms of education. Within the Flexible Zone lessons, the methodology of complementary school Distance Learning can contribute effectively to achieving its purpose, as it will lead the student to discovery learning. The distance Educational - Learning Material, which will be applied to such a program, plays a very important role in its processing. It largely determines the flexibility of the program and how the learner will learn. However, in the case of learning an environmental issue, we aim not only to achieve cognitive and learning skills, but also to change the learner's attitude towards the issue. The purpose of this research is the design, implementation and evaluation of distance educational material, which tackles the issue of the protection of biodiversity and the extinction of endangered animals in the region of Crete. Furthermore, additional educational material is created for this purpose, in which through environmental action the case of the sea turtle Caretta - Caretta is studied. The material addresses primary school students in the area of Rethymno within the framework of the Flexible Zone lessons. Our aim was to study the context of the educational material, both in the methodology of Distance Education and in Education for the Environment and Sustainability, and then to define the specifications according to which it must be created. The specifications, as well as the pedagogical technique of its implementation, were evaluated by critics - friends and then their views were analysed. Based on the answers, we concluded that the specifications we set for the material, as well as the pedagogical method to be applied, can have a positive impact on primary school pupils within the Flexible Zone lessons. The qualitative analysis of the educational material by critics - friends was formative, so that it can be applied in real-world conditions with some final changes.
