Abstract

The purpose of this research work was to design, develop and evaluate an interactive educational material which was created with the methodology of distance education, to enhance love for reading and also enhance all the knowledge for the Public Central Library of Rethymnon (PCLR) for primary education teachers. The content of the material emerged after the author's research in the field of love of reading and PCLR and was not based on any existing manual. For the implementation of the material, were utilized the principles of design of educational material as they have been defined by the theorists of the field. The training material was designed using H5P software and integrated into the Chamilo environment (LMS environment). For the evaluation of the training material, a qualitative research was carried out with purposing sampling of experts. The evaluators were three (3) postgraduate students, with high knowledge of the subject. They were asked to answer an open-ended questionnaire which was prepared by the laboratory of EDIVEA. The evaluators' comments show that the material was general, enjoyable and easy to use, interactive, the information contained in it was substantiated while its design was based on the principles of design of educational material as defined by the theorists in the field. However, there were some comments for improvement which were studied and taken into account for future changes. The contribution of this educational material is considered important since the bibliographic research carried out by the author of the material did not reveal the existence of any similar material in the bibliography.
