Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the views of educators and mental health professionals (psychologists and social workers) who served at a primary school in an isolated mountain community in Crete, as well as the views of the parents of the students attending the school, regarding the impact of the community's lifestyle and value system on the socialization of the students. For this purpose, research questions were formulated to investigate whether the value system of the community is reflected in the socialization and behavior of the students. Which are the principles, values, and dominant behaviors of the community that are recognized in the behavior of the students. Which are some of the characteristic behaviors of the students that derive from the influence of the dominant value system of the community. Qualitative research was chosen as the most appropriate approach for conducting the study, and the methodological tool used for this purpose was the semi-structured interview. We focused on the community's value system before proceeding to examine our research questions. 9 participants took part in the study, revealing a traditional way of thinking and acting that evolves within a modern environment.
