Abstract |
The purpose of this research work was to create interactive educational material with the methology of distance education. The theme of the educational material was: « The Third Greek Democracy». This educational material is addressed to students that attend secondary education and can be used autonomously as educational material of distance education or as supplementary educational material for the history lesson. For its implementation, the principles of designing educational material proposed by the theorists in the field, including the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning, were utilized. The interactive content was created with the use of h5p software in CMS environment and integrated in LMS environment. For a formative evaluation of the educational material, a qualitative research with an open-ended questionnaire and purposive sampling of experts in distance education, teachers and students, was carried out. Qualitative content analysis was used to process the data. The research results showed that the overall material was easy to use, enjoyable, documented, really interactive and in line with its design principles. The study results showed that the use of teaching material not only can contribute to better understanding of history content but can also empower students to develop critical thinking skills. The positive attitude of the students is suggested by their choice of the educational material as a means of learning history in classroom. The positive attitude of teachers is suggested by their preference of combining the use of teaching material with the school book as a means of teaching history.
