Abstract

The last 100 years had been characterized by considerable changes in the field of epistemology. Recursive logic, cybernetics and systems-theory changed fundamentally the way how organisation and interaction could and should be understood. This knowledge, however, is only beginning to enter the medical thinking. Medicine is still widely committed to a machine model. This model had been introduced about 150 years ago. Such so-called 'trivial machines' are synthetically deterministic, analytically determinable; when we know x and y we can reconstruct the operator f history independent, i. e. every following operation is according to the operation before, predictable. But the nature of the living is neither linear not trivial. That is, the theoretical model is only of limited use for the observed processes. The aim of this thesis is a) to analyse today's medical paradigm which is called 'reductionist' b) to show the limitations of this approach, c) to describe basic logical tools of the last 100 years and how they could be applied to medicine, d) to demonstrate the principles of systems-theory and cybernetics in relation to medicine, e) to review systemic concepts of the empirical medicine und to translate those old concepts into a modern terminology, f) to outline a basic concept of a systemic medicine
