Abstract In this PhD thesis, we dealt with the composition of metal phosphonate materials containing various phosphonic acid derivatives. The metal ions used were monovalent (Li+, K+, Na+, Cs+), divalent (Mg2+, Ca2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Mn2+), and trivalent (mainly cations lanthanides La 3+, Sm 3+, Er3+). The phosphonate substituents investigated included HPAA (R,S-hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid), HDTMP (hexamethylenediamine-tetrakis(methylene phosphonic acid)), PBDCA (5-phosphonobenzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid), CPPA (4-carboxyphenylphosphonic acid). Subsequently, we studied the properties of the formed metal-phosphonate materials and their applications in corrosion protection of metal surfaces, the presence of proton conductivity and the absorption of gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and nitric oxide.
