Abstract |
Nowadays, quantum sensors are an interesting achievement combining high level physics with
sophisticated technology. Scientists conduct more and more experiments with such sensors
in space, using laser techniques. One of the them is the Doppler-free saturated absorption
spectroscopy, that allows for great frequency stabilization. The aim of this thesis is to present
an analysis and 3D design of a module, that achieves stabilization, using the aforementioned
spectroscopic method, while having low cost and small size at the same time. The analysis
includes the trade-off of the optical components that are going to be used, so that the most
suitable combination is chosen, based on size, reflectivity, transmittance, wavelength range,
manufacturer and price criteria, among others. In addition, a significant part of the analysis is
dedicated to the intensity ratio of the two beams (pump-probe), both at the detector, and the
atom cell. This way, one can choose the proper lenses and non-polarizing elements, that affect
the final beam ratio. A testing version is built to prove that the spectroscopy configuration
actually works, and the desired signal is presented. The preliminary design is included with
the most important features, as created in Inventor (Autodesk 2021). At a later stage, it is to
be used for the manufacturing of the final module, through the 3D printing technique.
