Title Οι μεταψυχροπολεμικές ρωσοτουρκικές σχέσεις εξωτερικής πολιτικής : υπό το πρίσμα της ενεργειακής διένεξης στην Κεντρική Ασία
Alternative Title Russian-Turkish post-Cold War foreign policy relations in the light of the energy dispute in central Asia

Thesis advisor Ξενάκης Δημήτρης
Abstract Russian-Turkish foreign relations have been described as multidimensional and turbulent, as over the centuries they have been a central issue in foreign policy making, not only for the countries involved, but also for the Western powers. The Eastern Question had many implications, one of which was the control over Central Asia and the Caucasus. The area is of the highest geopolitical importance as it is a major source of energy supplies that the western world is in dire need. At the same time, the area is considered to be the “heart” of the Asian continent. Simultaneously the intense long-running rivalry over the Caspian Sea, as well as the region’s highly sensitive ethnological and economic characteristics, largely reflect the foreign policy of the countries involved against the superpower Russia and the regional power Turkey.
