Abstract This work can be distinguished in two different parts. At the first part a method of YBa2Cu3O7-x single crystal growth, is presented. This method, called self-flux method, is a very popular method of growing single crystals of the chemical formula, mentioned above. It is based on the non-stoichoiometric mixing of highly pure powders of Υ2Ο3, BaCO3 and CuO and their melting under high temperature environment. It is a very simple method, with low cost, relatively to other single crystal growth methods. At the other part of this work, a resistivity measurement set-up is demonstrated. Firstly, several considerations about voltage, current and resistance measurements are mentioned in order to improve the accuracy of an electrical measurement and to avoid common measurement errors. Several mathematical models, used to analyze electrical transport data and calculate resistivity, are also being described, at this part. Van der Paw method, Montgomery method and Extended Montgomery method are the most famous. This work is ended, with some typical electrical transport measurements in order to check the whole set-up. Powder, thin film and single crystal samples have been measured and their resistivity as a function of temperature and magnetic field has been calculated.
