Abstract	Our aim in this thesis is to study analogues of Hilbert's tenth problem for polynomial rings and subrings of the field of rational functions. More specifically, we present the undecidability of the positive existential theory of the polynomial ring R[t] and Laurent polynomial ring in the language of the polynomial rings Lr as well as in the "geometric" language
