Abstract A quite common phenomenon in the time of crisis and pandemic is the residential mobility of families and their children. Especially in several categories of professions such as military, substitute teachers or tourism workers face this situation and are often required to change their place of residence more than once. This phenomenon quite often worries the teachers and also the parents of the children themselves who change their place of residence, as they worry about the changes that such a process can bring to their children. The change of the place of residence, and especially the frequent changes of the place of residence are a phenomenon which is frequent and its effects have not been sufficiently studied, especially in the Greek-language literature. In the theoretical part of this MA thesis we examine the concepts of home, house and residence, the theoretical approaches that exist regarding residence and the effects of the stability and instability of the place of residence on the quality of life. Emphasis is placed on the philosophy of Martin Heidegger and his views are listed in comparison with the approaches of other theorists. At the same time, research evidence is presented on the effects of residential mobility on the family, parents and children. Specifically, some of the issues investigated are the concept of residential mobility, the reasons why people move, the perception of residential mobility by children and adolescents, elements of the social and educational context of the children who move, while military families are studied separately. The theoretical part concludes with the theoretical documentation of the methodological approaches and tools used for the research, namely the narrative-experiential approach, the drawing and the interview. The research part of the research lists the qualitative research that was conducted, which aims to describe and capture the participants' perception of the concepts of home, house and residence, but also the experience of frequent changes of place of residence, as well as the effects that residential mobility can have for a child, in relation to his social and family relations, his psychological functions, the educational/learning process and also in general personality characteristics. Then the results of the participants' responses are coded in the conclusions chapter and the research is concluded by referring to the limitations that appeared and formulating some proposals for future related research. Through the present research, many different aspects of the concepts we mentioned previously and also of the phenomenon of residential mobility were highlighted. It appeared that residential mobility is a process that presupposes the existence of a support network for a child. It is a process that affects the whole family and depending on factors such as the support from the contexts in which one is involved as well as the personal characteristics of the person, it can be a pleasant experience or, respectively, an unpleasant and traumatic experience.
