Abstract The present dissertation aims to design, implement and evaluate an interactive educational material (E.M.) for school distance education for teaching environmental education to junior High School students. For this purpose, the standards of creating E.M. for elearning environments were followed, as they were taught by the Laboratory of Advanced Learning Technologies in Lifelong and Distance Learning Education, Department of Primary Education, University of Crete. This material was evaluated by adults familiar with Distance Learning Education and by school students. About the research methodology, a qualitative approach was chosen since it was an action research. The research tool was open type questionnaires. Then the data was processed through the content analysis and the export of the research results. It was noted that this E.M. has a very interesting and current theme, it has readability, there are various activities with feedback to the trainee, as well as the fact that various internet tools for elearning environments have been used. Therefore it can be used successfully for students and it can constitute an important tool for building up knowledge on herbs contribution to our health. Especially students of the public school, which lacks in stimuli for environmental education, are helped to understand the contribution of herbs to our health and to develop a positive attitude towards environmental protection. It is suggested to import more sounds/narration in some points, reduce some texts and to be enriched with more herbs in the future.
