Abstract Understanding the properties of soft composite materials is an important challenge for creating novel materials for a variety of purposes, including technological, medical, pharmaceutical and food applications. In this thesis, we report on the dynamic properties of two asymmetric binary mixtures (large difference in size of constituents), (i)colloidal spheres with different softness (hence, pair interaction potential), made of star polymers with varying functionalities and arm length, and (ii) hard-sphere-like stars with larger linear homopolymers. Using Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), the size of the particles was determined. Subsequently, rheological properties were measured for both pure components and mixtures. The results reveal distinct rheological responses of the different soft mixtures, a consequently a rich dynamic state diagram with plethora of states, as a result of the different interactions. The punchline of this work is the ability to tailor the properties of such soft composites at molecular scale.
