Abstract

In the present research project, a simple, fast and biomimetic synthesis of the natural products farnesiferols B, C & D, and cordiaquinones J & K were accomplished. The key reaction for the synthesis of the above mentioned natural products was a selective monocyclization of an epoxy polyene terpenoid which was applied by confinement within the cavities of zeolite NaY, a porous aluminosilicate. The epoxide precursor for the synthesis of farnesiferols was 10,11-epoxyfarnesyl acetate, which underwent cyclization, followed by 3 additional steps on the cyclized products. For the synthesis of cordiaquinones J & K, 10,11-epoxy β-farnesene was used as a precursor.
