Abstract This qualitative study aims to explore the perceptions and attitudes of the course of introduction, implementation, and effectiveness of gender quotas in political representation, as depicted in the minutes of Parliament during the debate on the quota measure, as well as from women's stories and narratives politicians elected and candidates in the Greek parliament. At the same time, it traces the opinions, experiences and interpretations of both party representatives and female politicians regarding the reasons for the ongoing female political under-representation and highlights the factors for increasing female political participation. The main reason for carrying out the research is the research gap that exists on the issue of female political representation in the light of gender quotas, as most research that has been carried out so far emphasizes the rationale, content, legal and theoretical implications of the measure. The collection of the research material was based on two (2) qualitative focuses. The first focus concerns the minutes of the Parliament during the discussion and voting of the measure of quotas in the Greek legislation. The second focus concerns the narratives of twenty-six (26) women politicians from 2 groups (elected during the interviews between April 2018 and January 2019 and not elected in the last 3 electoral contests) who belonged to four (4) ruling parties (by alphabetical order: K.K.E., N.D., PA.SO.K., SY.RIZ.A.). The resulting research material was systematically analyzed according to the principles of thematic analysis, considering the ideological / party orientation of party representatives and female interviewees as it shapes their positions and opinions. The final unified report of the qualitative research consists of two (2) chapters. The first chapter presents the attitudes of the political parties regarding women's representation regarding the introduction of gender quotas in politics through the minutes of the Parliament. The second chapter includes the detailed presentation of the results of the research data from the in-depth interviews of female politicians.
