Abstract The role of cytoreduction (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in the treatment of gynecological malignancies has been evaluated in several clinical studies and meta-analyses, but it is still the subject of scientific controversy. Therefore, a systematic review of existing meta-analyses was performed to summarize the results of the use of HIPEC and CRS in the management of gynecological cancers. The search included MEDLINE, Cohrane Library, Scopus, Prospero, Web of Science and Science and Science Direct, Google Scholar databases for meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials and observational studies for 4 different types of gynecological cancers. Endometrial cancer, cervical cancer, Uterine leiomyosarcoma and ovarian cancer. Results vary depending on the type of cancer. The present overall study suggests that HIPEC performed at the end of CRS appears to benefit patients treated for primary ovarian disease, while the evidence is insufficient to establish a clinical benefit of CRS combined with HIPEC for endometrial cancer, cervical cancer and uterine leiomyosarcoma.
