Abstract	There has been a great deal of research concerning burnout in Greece and the results are fluctuating, with most researchers agreeing that Greek teachers are less affected by the syndrome compared to teachers in other countries. The variation of aspects, presented by most researchers, was the reason for this research. The research is focusing on a specific geographical area (prefecture of Rethymnon) and using as its core research group teachers (special education teachers of integration departments). The research investigated, considering the specific socio-economic, cultural and political conditions that global economic crisis had shaped, all those factors related to education and directly or indirectly contributing to the phenomenon of occupational burnout. The research group were 20 teachers (86.95% of our total research area). The results obtained from the research data, portrayed a rather different picture from the one presented so far in the majority of researches considering occupational exhaustion. On the contrary to the data obtained from the analysis of the personal factors of the research, the organizational factors, as a whole, provided strong evidence that they could document the existence of occupational burnout among teachers in Rethymnon’s integration departments.
