Abstract

The present thesis studies the education of the children of ancient Athens during the classical and post-classical era. As a research topic, it can be characterized as interesting because it involves the reader in a process of an informal comparison with the current education that children receive. This thesis is a bibliographic review, but for the analysis and presentation of this topic museum exhibits are utilized. Reading this study, one can recognize the direct and interconnected relationship of the school with the museum, the variety of museum exhibits related to the main research topic, as well as the similarities and differences regarding the education, training and entertainment of the children of ancient Athens and those of the present time.
