Abstract Τhe advance of technology and medicine by extension in recent years has generated new bioethical issues on medical decisions concerning the treatment of end stage patients and probably determine the survivor and the quality of their life. The need to define the limits of medical intervention led to the introduction of the concept of the medical futile therapy, the definition and criteria of which constitute nevertheless an area of controversy. The central bioethical issue which is about to investigate the present master thesis is whether the medical futile therapy may insult the dignity of the patient at the end of their life. Moreover, we will look into the role of doctors and especially surgeons and anaesthesiologists who are members of the same team and are more often called upon to make such kind of decisions.
