Abstract More than half of patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer are over 70 years old, and median age at time of diagnosis, is 73 years old. However, poor data can be found in bibliography for patients over 70 years old. Geriatric patients are, usually, under represented in randomized trials, as the use of therapeutic drugs in patients with comorbidities can result to higher toxicity rates. This can lead to hypotherapeutic strategies for this group of patients, in surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The aim of this study was to record demographic, therapeutic and survival data for patients over 70 years old who were diagnosed with colorectal cancer, between 2000 and 2018, and were treated in our department. Overall, 525 patients were treated (250 until 2013 and 275 till 2018) and the median age, at the time of diagnosis, was 76 years old. Most of patients had a good performance status. More specifically, 59.1% of patients diagnosed after 2013 had PS=0. 277 patients received adjuvant therapy and had low rates of discontinuation of therapy. 39.6% of patients had progression of their disease and the median follow up was 56.1 months. Median time of survival was 80.6 months (95% Cl 74.4-97.3). Results from this study indicate that patients over 70 years old, as long as they have undergone a compkete geriatric assessment, can receive similar therapy to the general population, with the same toxicity profiles and the same benefits.
