Abstract

The purpose of this dissertation was to design, develop and evaluate educational material in the unit "Theseus", covered in the school subject of History, using the method of distance learning, for third grade students of Primary School. This material can be used as a supplementary tool for teachers or as a support tool for students' independent learning. It was based on Mayer’s Principles of Multimedia Learning and the h5p software and the Chamilo platform were used, as well. A qualitative research, including two parts, was carried out in order to assess it. The one part involved its evaluation by distance learning specialists and the other its evaluation by Primary school teachers. Questionnaires with open-ended and closed-ended questions were used in both surveys. Purposive sampling, specifically "experts sampling", was used in the first survey and "purposive convenience sampling" in the second, while "Quality Content Analysis" method was used to analyze data. The results of the research showed that the principles and methodology of distance learning apply to the educational material. Furthermore, the educational material is created in accordance with the Principles of Multimedia Learning, it meets the goals and objectives of the Curriculum, its content is valid and teachers are willing to use it while teaching "Theseus".
