Abstract The current innovative procedures in the field of pre-implantation – prenatal control and interventional methods that take place during assisted reproduction, offer the potential to intervene in the physiology of the human body. The perpetuation of the phenotypes that carry defective genes that under natural reproductive procedures, due to individuals’ infertility, would have disappeared from the gene pool is likely to put pressure on the human evolution. The purpose of this thesis is to present how likely the risk of assisted reproduction is to affect human biology, to underline the growing dependence of reproduction on technology but also to present the moral duty of the modern generation to protect future generations from harmful effects of the reproductive methods. The reproduction procedure may begin as an act of free will, it results through to the creation of another human being whose autonomy and interests depend instantly on the autonomy’s exercise of the first person. Consequently, the ethics of reproduction is not only based on the biological reproduction and the transfer of human DNA, but also concerns the responsibility towards the human being that will be born.
