Abstract	The human life strongly depends on the natural environment and takes place in temporal and spatial scales. One of the established tactics, regardless of the context, that societies follow from the historical past until today for the management of their environment is the use of punishment. Nowadays, within the social contexts of citizens’ rights and social stability, punishment, as a tool of environmental policy, raises specific concerns. In the present thesis, the study of these concerns has led to a series of findings regarding their legal, sociological and biological aspects, which are examined in the light of Environmental Ethics.
