Abstract This work is negotiating common perceptions and representations that exist towards disabled children. The first section examines the theoretical context of the subject. It talks about the different perceptions that society has for child disability, which generally are negative, attitudes held, many of which lead the people with disabilities to the side border, as well as for the representations that each one of us separately can have from his personal experiences with people with some form of disability. At the same time some qualitative studies with interesting thematics are presented, which are worth mentioning. The second chapter focuses on the negative side of attitudes towards disability. After the social stigma originating from disability is discussed, an attempt is made to clarify the terms stereotypes and prejudice against the disabled, what forms they take, and what are the most likely reasons that contribute to the formation of these stereotypical conceptions. Moving in the third chapter we see attitudes held by the State. After reference to sources of negative attitudes to disability is attempted, we focus on the education of children with disabilities, Special Education, but also an idea that has arisen in recent years and is none other than the inclusion of children with disabilities in general education, the ways of implementation of this idea, that only positive results can bring, but also the factors that need to be configured to succeed in practice. The fourth section deals with the practical application of the assimilation of disabled persons in the general population, as the separation that exists even today is the biggest problem that people with disabilities face daily. A debate is held about the shape of this man-made environment but also for what settings and adjustments need to be made to it, in order for it to become accessible to all people who suffer from any kind of handicap. Then we evaluate the practices for combating social exclusion of families with disabled members , and the policies and institutions, that exist in Greece as well as abroad to serve these families, but also help in whichever part is necessary. Finally a chronological recursion of the disability movement in Greece is made, seeing how it was developed, as well as the reasons and the ways that disability is represented at the present day in the system of governance.
