Abstract |
Hydrogen is
an emerging fuel, since compared to
the conventional fuels,
it
is
environmentally friendly,
due to it is based
on water splitting.
A
photocatalytic
system is necessary for hydrogen
generation
from water, which simulates
photosynthesis, i.e. there is a photosensitizer,
which collects
the
sunlight,
and a
catalyst that achieves the
hydrogen cation
reduction
in
a molecular hydrogen.
The motivation for the present
bachelor thesis
is based on a previous study, in
which titanium dioxide was
connected
via
a covalent bond
with
metallized
porphyrin platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd)
moieties, resulted in
a large
-
scale
hydrogen
production.
This
bachelor thesis
demonstrates my
attempts
for
the
photocatalytic hydrogen
generation
from
graphene
oxide covalently
linked with
platinum and palladium
metallized porphyrin
moieties.
The final product was
thoroughly characterized
by
FT
-
IR,
UV
-
Vis
and
PL
spectroscopies,
X
-
ray diffraction (
XRD
)
while
hydrogen
production measurements were done
in the
respective
photocatalytic system
used.
