Abstract The objective of the following thesis is the formation of the compound trans (Dinitro-Phenyl-NH)2-tetraPhenyl Porphyrin and its subsequent fusion with Graphene Oxide. Compound trans DNP-TPP's ability as a light harvesting dye was investigated in particular, as well as its potential to produce electrical energy from solar power in solar cells. This research was conducted, due to the interesting and promising properties of organic Chromophores in the field of Optoelectronics and the recent successful production of Graphene. This topic has received widespread attention from the scientific community, with extensive scientific research being conducted, on a global scale in order to gain a deeper insight, and optimize, the usage of these materials. Therefore, an effort was made in order to comprehend how these two compounds interact with each other and determine the results of their unification. Identification as well as characterization of the product, was performed utilizing various spectrometers such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR-CNMR), Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis), Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL) and 3D animation with Density Functional Theory software (DFT). The procedure s that were performed unfortunately did not reach the desirable yield of energy conversion, however, the manner in which the research was conducted in order to achieve this objective, will be illustrated in the sections that follow.
